In day-to-day life, most people try to be extroverts. This is because without being outgoing, it would be difficult to accomplish tasks related to day-to-day life. Naturally, extroversion is considered a positive attribute. Everyone likes people who are extroverts. Their actions and behaviour is more socially acceptable. It allows them to have more friends, acquaintances and they are accepted by society easily.
Further, with an outward-bound nature, an extrovert person is likely to grow in his professional life much quicker than people who stay reserved. Extroverts impress others easily with a beaming confidence.
A majority of extroverts, however, find themselves ‘weak’ in an important art.
The art of looking within.
Extrovert people are always interested in knowing about the outside world and what is happening there. They think if other people would help, they’ll make progress in life. They think, if they will gain wealth, they will be happy. Mostly, they are dependent on the outer circumstances and sometimes wait for miracles. And the life of a some extroverts is simply based on pipe dreams only, and when these dreams dont materialise, depression sets in.
So it is not surprising why stress, depression, and anxiety have become a part of life of a majority of youth.
Apart from dealing with professional stress, they also have to deal with inner stress, which sometimes proves to be highly detrimental to their health.
Senses Connect Humans to the Outer World, but… Nature has made humans in such a way that we connect to everyone in the outer world through our senses and seek gratification there. A majority of people, therefore, focus on the outside world. But a true seeker has to go within, look within and connect within. This is the way to gain real knowledge about the ‘Self’. Know that trees which don’t have deep roots cannot reach a great height and even if they reach, a strong gust of wind is enough to uproot them. So, it is necessary to practice introversion so that we also become strong and stable from within.
Being introvert means, you can connect to your inner peace, concentrate, and contemplate the complexity of life. It means you can solve life’s problems by reflecting upon them deeply. It allows you to think about your part in this play of life.
This quality also enables you to bring change within yourself first, before trying to bring changes in the outside world. So, now you don’t want to control the world. You know how to control yourself and develop inner understanding. You walk on the path of self-evolvement before developing society.
These are a few elements and positive aspects of introversion from where the journey of spirituality begins.
A journey that opens the path of inner purification, inner bliss and inner strength- the beginning of a person’s self-upliftment.
As the saying goes, ‘charity begins at home’-so understand that while it is important to do good for the world, it is more important to start from yourself. And that becomes easier when you practice introversion or inwardness.
Sometimes, there are various misconceptions about introverts – like that they’re self-centred, detached, anxious or lonesome. But in reality, being an introvert can actually prove to be an advantage.
Introverts get their energy by spending time with themselves, they boost themselves up that way and then they go out into the world and connect with people more strongly. They are good listeners and in most of the cases, empathic.
Introverts hear others’ perspectives, understand it deeply and provide useful insight when they respond.
They choose their words wisely and make an impact with their words.
They’re good observers as well. They notice things others might not notice and it makes them compassionate people.
When such people channel their energy, it surely brings positive changes to society.
Hence, there is nothing wrong if you are an extrovert person. It’s a good quality if you want to grow in your personal life. But along with that also try to visit your inner space sometimes and practice introversion. It will help you understand, analyse and develop inner qualities. And whatever your personality type is- extrovert or introvert- use your powers for inner welfare as well as social welfare in a balanced way.
