Human beings are the most intelligent creation of God. Due to their intelligence, they are perpetually in search of progress, novelty and for ‘higher and better things’. They understand that there is a scope of development in everything, be it their surroundings, street, city and even country. But, if you want a beautiful country, a clean country, a progressed country and a country to be proud of, you have to love it first. Without love, there is no scope of progress in anything.

This is why patriotism plays a powerful role in citizens’ life. It motivates people to work towards the benefit of their country and in return they get a vibrant nation and a homeland to feel proud of. Therefore, a common man must love his country and stay patriotic for whole life. 

Look at any progressed nation, you will find that people in these nations inculcate the virtue of patriotism in them before any other virtue. For them, the country comes first (National Interest), then their work (Professional Interest) and then their personal desires (Self-Interest). With such a belief system in its countrymen, any country may transform itself into a robust nation having magnificent cultural riches.

The tradition and culture of a country must flourish in the hearts of its citizens. They must not exist like superfluous things. A country’s culture must live in the homes and hearts of its citizens. Days like Independence Day and Republic Day shall be celebrated with pride. National emblems and flag must be displayed on particular occasions and respected at all times.

Citizens must be motivated to participate in the events of national interest and social services. Moreover, patriotism is not just a way of life rather it also plays a role in the complete process of human development. This is because patriots have no narrowness in their minds and that brings a huge difference in their way of living.

When you love your country, you work hard to achieve strength in mind and body in order to become eligible to strengthen the nation’s frontiers and its executive structure. Joining the Armed Forces is indeed the nicest opportunity to serve the motherland, but there are other promising avenues as well wherein you can give your services in the national interest.

Loyalty towards the nation and nationalism are things that make a nation strong and united. Each citizen relates well to others in their shared love for the country. The citizens express their patriotic feelings in a bigger way. People who are patriotic take a collective action that suits the national interest that eventually keeps the country united and strong.

Therefore, being a responsible citizen of India, identify your beliefs and patriotic values, stick to them and display them. As a common man, take pride in your national identity, wave the national flag proudly, and respect your country, its cultures, and traditions. Because every rich and developed nation needs citizens having a strong sense of patriotism.
