Lord Ganesh is an endearing God. He appeals to people of all ages and steals everyone’s heart with a round belly, elephant head and a mouse as His vehicle. He brings a smile to everyone’s faces through His joyfully smiling eyes and playful deeds. His deeds are recounted in many stories about Him.
No doubt, He is the God of happiness, cheerfulness and smile making hearts joyful. And everyone knows that a joyful heart works like a medicine that can cure any disease, depression and stress.
Also, nothing brings more joy to the heart than a cheerful look. If you look closely at any picture of Lord Ganesh, you will see many elements that represent sheer joy. Thus, everyone loves His name ‘Mangal Murti’. It means the symbol of joy. The one who spreads happiness and abundance all around with a plate of sweet Modak in His hands. This happiness is magically intoxicating.
Indeed, happiness is your real superpower. When you are happy, all your troubles appear temporary and can be overcome with a little effort. People pray to their favorite Lord to eliminate all obstacles. He is the supreme deity, He is ‘Vinayak’ who teaches discipline to all and hence He has a Goad, ‘Ankush’ in His hands. It symbolizes discipline.
This Goad is a spiked stick and symbolizes order. It keeps people on the path of righteousness and also guides seekers to choose the celestial path of ‘Sadhana’, meditation. It also serves as a reminder for seekers to control their senses. These senses tend to focus on superficial objects. These senses must turn inward which is the ultimate way to feel happiness and bliss.
It is said that a human being attains the power of self- control with the blessings of Lord Ganesh only. In fact, this self-control turns into Lord Ganesh’s biggest blessing which is ‘auspiciousness and material gain or profit’. When a seeker attains auspiciousness & prosperity (Shubh & Labha) in his life, he starts the journey towards spiritual awakening naturally.
And Lord Ganpati is an energy bestowing spiritual boons upon His devotees. This is the reason why in yogic practices, the first Sadhana given to a spiritual aspirant is ‘Ganpati Sadhana’ along with Ganesh Mantra Chanting. This opens the gateway to spiritual gain and happiness removing all the obstacles and adversities.
Such power to transfer spiritual energy in seekers, makes Lord Ganesha a ‘Vighnaharta’. He destroys obstacles and all the critical issues of life. Therefore, before starting any Puja or Yagya, Lord Ganesh is worshipped first and foremost, making Him the God of fresh beginnings.
Know that the individual power of transcendence- the power of surpassing or going beyond any limit- lies in the Kundalini Shakti. Through this power, anybody can overcome any trouble in life. Lord Ganesh dwells in the Muladhara, or root chakra, that rules over the earth element and holds this Kundalini Shakti.
Lord Ganesh provides His devotees with the steadiness to handle effectively their inherent powers that emerge out of the earth element in order to take them towards a problem-free life. And hence, those who are facing troubles in life, perform Ganpati Yagya to solve their problems.
So, while moving forward in the journey of life, keep the cheerful form of Lord Ganesh in your mind. Make Him an inseparable part of your life, not only during the celebrations of the auspicious Ganesh festival but, forever. This surely will facilitate attainment of health, happiness, prosperity and progress in life.
