WE leave old clothes and wear new clothes. This is very easy for us. The soul also does the same thing. Lord Shri Krishna says: “Just as this soul leaves old body and takes new one” the cycle goes on. Some flowers fade away, some are becoming buds. When they get blossomed into full flowers, they are picked up. The buds would say that
tomorrow it would be their turn; tomorrow the gardener of death would come and pick them as well. Remember this. You do not come in this world to stay forever. Yudhishtra acknowledged that this was the greatest wonder of this world. The man has to go one day but he does not accept this. The man says: “I am here. Who was to go has gone since he has finished his lifetime. But I would remain.” This is surprising. The youth bears the weight of the old man on his shoulders but some times old man also bears the load of the youth which is very difficult to bear as this load is on the heart and not on the shoulders.
In this context there is a small interesting tale about the young people and an old man. Some boys were playing in the street when an old man walked up. His back was bent forward and was walking with the help of a stick. The young boys, out of fun asked him: “What are you searching so hard on the street? Have you lost something?” The man recollected himself. All of us are in the habit of making such jokes. The child again asked the old man: “Have you lost your money?“ The old man was coughing. He stopped for a while.
He said: “Yes, I have lost something”. “What has been lost? What is that you have lost on this street?” The old man replied amusingly: “Yes, my dear child, while wandering here and there I have lost my youth. I am looking for that lost youth.” When the old man went a little further he noticed that some children were playing there. The old man was bending forward. His back had become like a bow. The children looking at his bow-like back asked the old man jokingly: “Baba, for how much have you bought this bow?” The old man looking at them smiled and said: “I got it free of cost. You would also get the same one day. You would not escape from this.” Maybe a funny explanation, but with the change in time such situations would come up. Such a situation would definitely come. In Gita, Krishna shows us the path of breaking this never ending circle of life and death and attain enlightenment.
