“Take effective action with self-reflection because from the silent reflection will emanate even more effective action giving you a life of your choice.”
-HH Sudhanshuji Maharaj
Self-reflection is a habit worth keeping. Yet, unfortunately, the world is full of people who just don’t reflect — particularly those who don’t reflect on themselves. At its simplest, self-reflection is about careful thoughts and visualization. The life-changing reflection involves the conscious contemplation and analysis of beliefs and likely actions for the purpose of making a better tomorrow.
Self-reflection provides the brain with an opportunity to take a pause amidst the turbulence. It enables you to get clarity about your life. It also helps you sort through life’s experiences and observations for considering multiple interpretations, creating meanings as well as tremendous possibilities of a bright future.
Such meanings become your inner learning that can then pave the way for future mindsets and actions. And for each aspirational human being, this ‘meaning creation’ is crucial to his ongoing journey towards success & development.
Think wisely and you will find time is passing very fast. It is making you cry as well as laugh; sometimes making you jubilant and sometimes sad. It makes you worry sometimes and sometimes motivates you to celebrate. At times, it breaks you completely and sometimes gives you the inner strength to fight.
A human being’s whole life, in a way, revolves around this time factor. No one has any idea how much time is left on the earth. Yet, if someone feels that life has to be precious, and it has to be happy despite its ephemeral nature, they have to create a road map for that. And for creating a road map, firstly you have to fix and sustain your ideas in the mind, just like you plan for building a house.
Before building your house, you first create a blueprint in your mind. You think what kind of room, temple, floor, tiles, roof, etc. you want. You go into the details about the style of doors, windows, gates, parking, even the place for keeping your shoes. You have a framework of everything in your mind. After imagining it all you go to the architect and show him your land with a desire to build such a house at the plot.
Thus, you visualize everything. A perfect and real map is created afterwards. Now you have a model of your house and also see it on ‘walkthrough’ where you have a feel of your house on computers with all the details. This entire process is nothing but self-reflection or visualization.
Just like someone who plans before building a house, you should start visualizing your future life. Slide in finer details and look at everything with same passion. So, if you want to expand your business, start thinking, how the expansion would make me happy; how much pride I will take on that; how it will decorate my personality; and how I would live then.
Understand that your success uplifts you. Others praise your work when you achieve success, but when you fail and lack something, the same people make jokes on you and sometimes insult you. In this world, people also make jokes on others’ handicap, speech deformity, eye problem, etc.
In fact, people make jokes about all sorts of scarcity, weakness, and failure of others yet there are people who turn their weakness, scarcity, or failure into a power. It happens with the power of visualization.
So, no matter how much difficulty you are facing right now, how many failures you have seen of late or what others are saying about you, you must think that I am not the person that the world is saying, rather I am the one that I consider myself. And it happens when you start seeing your image as a successful person while working hard towards your goal. You reflect upon yourself and it is a power.
So, visualize your future persona, feel it and act accordingly. And then show the world this is me and this is how I am. This is how I live, this is how I speak, and this is how I act. It is nothing but ‘self-pride’ and ‘self-respect’ which is different from pride and ego.
So, try to get hold of your time, and keep it under control. Those who have the ability to take control of their time, they visualize their best version. They think seriously about creating a bright future, dream about it, feel it and place it in their subconscious mind. And once it gets placed in the subconscious mind, it becomes a part of life and eventually turns into the real life.
Therefore, practice self-reflection and don’t just dream about success, achieve it and make it your habit.
