We have been talking about major powers that concern us – God and the Soul But there is yet another major power besides these two and that is Nature/Prakriti. These three powers are present all the time in the universe and influence us and all other creations of the world.
The Fruits of Karma
There are two birds sitting on a branch of a tree. One is busy eating all the fruits. Some of the fruits are sweet, some are sour, and some others are bitter. The bird is eating them, some in full and some not at all as they don’t taste good. All living beings are eating such fruits. The other bird sitting along but not eating the fruit is none else than God. This bird has beautiful furs and bright shining wings. He watches the other bird-eating and relishing the fruits.
The other bird which has been eating the fruits, consuming them in full and some being thrown down is the Atma. The one which is not eating but watching is Parmatma. The fruits are the karma – deeds, of the person. Some of them are good deeds and some are bad deeds.
Parmatma and Atma are Eternal
Parmatma and Atma do not die. They live forever and eternally. They never change nor get transformed. The one which keeps on changing and undergoing transformation [rather dying] is Nature. The elements of nature stay forever. Just as the damaged or worn out cloth, is thrown away, it degenerates and gets mixed with the earth. After
some time, it emerges as the new plant of cotton and which again gets transformed into cloth. Similar is the life of iron – it gets eroded or chiseled or filed gets mixed with the earth and with the elements in the nature. Later, it emerges as iron ore which is extracted and converted into iron bars and sheets. This is the element that goes on
changing. It is the nature which helps the process of transformation. Water is another element which never dies, it gets converted into solid ice or in steam which then gets transformed into water and comes down in the form of rain. The nature, therefore, has the elements which continue to undergo transformation. Who is then responsible for
transformation? Of course, none else than God Himself. He puts all the elements in different forms but does not eliminate them altogether. He creates and recreates them afresh. Parmatma is, therefore, the basic power which brings about the transformation.
God determines the Destiny
We do not take anything with us while leaving the world. Everything is left behind. Everyone who comes into this world comes with his fate written for him in advance. Nobody writes that fate – it is God only who writes the fate and determines the destiny. If anyone becomes the king, it is none else than God who makes a person the king. Nobody can make anyone king – it is the destiny or the fate which makes one the king and that destiny is determined by God alone. ur karma is the foreign currency which can be used anywhere. Good karma goes along with you anywhere and anytime. There is always a conflict between good karma and bad karma.
Everybody is bound by attractions
Everybody wants to be free but is bound by children, relatives, houses, business etc. Though physically free man remains tied down to certain elements which prevent him from getting closer to God. Attractions are the chains and impediments. They are the shackles.
Break the Cycle of Transmigration
Transmigration is like the chain on the pulley – the life continues to go away and then come back in a rotation. The circle never seems to break. The chain of transmigration comes to a halt only when the Satguru holds the hand and teaches the ways to break away from the chain of transmigration. Attraction and attachments are the two elements which remain connected for ever. They try to develop bondages and slow down the progress to God. It takes a lot of efforts to get rid of them and break the power of attraction. Attraction attracts worries and
snatches the power of leading a fruitful life. Get rid of Attachments Wealth is like the pair of shoes. Shoes help you to walk away safely over thorns on the way and be protected from the impediments on the path. They are meant for walking not for keeping them on the head. Wealth and its intoxication should not enter the head and mind. Wealth in any form is, in fact, the means to lead a good quality life with all comforts. But one should not show off his wealth or be arrogant. It must be used wisely to improve one’s own life and for the welfare of society. Atma has No Fixed Physique The form of Atma is variable. It is micro and, in fact, smaller than the micro form. It assumes the forms of the bearer – Atma in the ant is smaller, but the same Atma becomes bigger when It is in the body of the elephant. Life has different spans – one hour to one hundred years and even more. Some bodies live for shorter durations and
some live for hundreds of years and the soul continue to reside in them. Everyone completes the cycle of life during that span of time. The Knowledge of attachment and attraction The knowledge of attachment and attraction helps you to stay above all attachments. One who gains wisdom gets closer to God. God also has an affinity for the knowledgeable person. Wisdom takes one to the state of Ananda – ultimate peace Devotion is the Pathway to God
There is one power which binds the world. God gives everything, makes you rich, makes you happy, kind and a person full of compassion. Compassion is a form of devotion. Devotion is the pathway to God. When one becomes knowledgeable, one obtains the feeling of Ananda [tranquility/peace of mind]. God follows such a person who is filled with Ananda. Service to others and to the community and to God is bhakti. God comes to such a person. Bhakti is the way to the divine gateway. Soul does not have any physical characteristics – neither a male nor a female, neither rich nor poor, neither small nor large. It stays in the body as per the karma. Bhakti does not arise in one day. It grows in steps and stages. Bhakti emerges out of past deeds.
Design Your Own Life
Therefore, god souls, design your own life. There should be peace and tranquility in life when the time of departure from the world comes. Life should not be filled with worries. To get to God is to get lost in Him and oneself. Flow with the waves of God. Those are lucky who continue to recite His name. Remain devoted and be resolute. Stick to your thoughts and beliefs but remain under the divine shadow all the time.
