“One who is tolerant, always contented, self-controlled, and involved in devotional service with resolve, his mind and intelligence fixed on Me—such a devotee of Mine is very dear to Me.”
The ongoing age, the Kaliyuga, has some disquieting features. There is a lack of peace all around; humans are the biggest enemies of humans. People are easily instigated to are eager to confront each other easily. There is a lack of tolerance left in the world and it is hard to find any control over emotions. The whole atmosphere is jammed with faithlessness and troubling relationships. It seems that people are no longer interested in wisdom and spiritual values.
An age wherein materialistic pleasure is the definition of wellbeing and where minds are disturbed and full of anxiety. Still, those who have faith in God and who are engaged in the pure devotional services, who are without any desire for self-glorification and who believe in desireless actions are capable of leading a pure life even in Kaliyuga. And such people receive the blessings of Lord Krishna despite getting enticed by the illusions of this material world.
Illusion and materialistic pleasures make everyone forget the right path in life. People forget their originality that they came from God and have to return to Him only. They get busy in making wealth by creating a specific pattern of habit in the mind. Now these habits control their life. They don’t even think about how they are making money. They hurt others, break relationships, forgo their health and sleep in order to accumulate wealth.
Know that God resides in everybody’s heart and He has spread a web of illusions everywhere. These illusions, known as ‘Mayajaal’, are so attractive that everyone wants to enjoy them to the fullest. The profound Maya of God makes them dance to its tunes. In fact, this eye-catching Maya is the secretary of God who tests everybody, whether a person is eligible to reach God and receive His blessings or not.
Further, this ‘illusion’ is like a beautiful toy that God throws towards humans. Some people spend their entire life in the enslavement of this toy while some throw it away as if it is an ordinary thing and seek God’s company wholeheartedly. They chant God’s name and devote their life in His devotion.
God loves such devotees, welcomes them in His comforting shelter and showers His blessings upon them.
Moreover, God does not care about how much worldly wealth you have accumulated rather he is concerned about how much spiritual wealth you have accumulated. God says, He has decorated the whole world with Maya and transitory pleasures, only a few prudent people transcend it. But don’t think that such people have nothing to do with Maya. They create wealth and enjoy it too, as the fruits of their Karma, but they do it wisely. They take care of themselves, their family while spending time in social welfare too.
Keep in mind, God constantly watches your Karma and He plants the seeds of your Karma in the form of memory in your mind. When the right time comes these seeds yield fruits. If your karma was wise, it will yield happiness, otherwise distress and at the time of distress everyone will leave you making you feel lonely.
Such is the attribute of Kali Yuga; everybody reaches your doorstep to share your happiness, but not a single person would come to share your grief. And so, grief is painful.
Yet if the distressed person is full of devotion, he may receive a ‘Brahma Kavach’, an inner power from God that will protect him from grief and its consequences. He will come out of any stressful situation and people would say, this man is courageous, no grief can break him.
Therefore, devote yourself in making your and your loved one’s life comfortable, but do not forget God’s glories. Chant His holy name and serve humanity by performing austerities for the sake of others, making their lives comfortable. Also, practice true renunciation in Kaliyuga through devotion to Lord Krishna while transcending the toys created by Him. Such a devotion appeals to Lord Krishna and He blesses all such devotees in all ages.
