The human life is an opportunity. One should take full advantage of the opportunity. The main problem which continues to haunt a human being is that he does not get what he aspires for and whatever he gets he did not want it or had never expected it. That is why his journey of life remains incomplete.
Consequently, make full use of whatever has been made available and do not get worried for what has not been available.
According to a Western thinker “Man wants to capture stars and continues to open his hands to get hold of the shining stars in the sky but unable to see the flowers that are at his feet.” This ignorance worries the man. There are abundant flowers lying scattered under and near your feet but you are unable to see them.
This is the irony of fate. You focus on something else which is away from you and you keep on revolving around yourself. Try to find out the happiness within which you are trying to find outside. The supposed happiness outside is, in fact, the reflection of the happiness within. The vision seen outside is rather the shadow of the inner happiness.
It is worth recounting one of the incidents of Swami Ramteerath Ji. He writes, “A beautiful bird was kept inside a glass cage. An image of a flower was seen by it all around the cage.
The bird was hitting the image of the flower in the glass with its beak. It was not able to get to the real flower. It looked on the other side of the cage and started hitting the image of the flower in the glass. It could not reach the flower. It again started hitting the glass on the other side but could not reach the flower. It kept on hitting the glass again and again but failed to get to the flower.
It was utterly frustrated. In that process it got its beak hurt and blood started oozing from the beak. Being tired it fell down. The blood drops fell down and when the bird looked down it found the flower lying at its feet. It found what it was looking for. It was unable to look within while all its efforts were to look outside.
The flower was lying at its feet. It was very happy to find lying at its feet. The cage to her no more looked like a cage but the bird got the feeling of its being free and flying high in the open sky.
In the same way the whole world is, in fact, the reflection of God. God, being like the flower is within us. We can reach Him only when we also suffer
like the bird. Do no injure yourself, rather try to look for Him within yourself. He is sitting deep inside you — seek him there.
While talking of the flower, let’s recall a poem written by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. In the poem, the flower says, O fruit, I invite you. I respect you. I welcome you. I have a lot of juice and nectar for you. I have fragrance and colour for you. I have a lot of softness, tenderness and sweetness for you. Come to me.
When the flower called the fruit with such a great honour and affection, the fruit said, “You have expressed so much honour to me, you have so much of love for me, you should also understand that I am not far away from you. Look at me rather carefully and you will find me there.
The fruit is born from out of the flower. The seed grows into a plant then there is a bud, and from the bud emerges the lower. The flower then invites the fruit to emerge from its within. In this way all of us are the flowers of God, we are his children, we also grow tender flowers and emerge like fruits. We, somehow, don’t recall our past.
We remain engrossed in the worldly affairs and remain entangled with the thorns of the world. There are thorns with flowers — these are passion, anger, greed, attachment and ego. These remain attached to us and keep us away from God. These also prevent the fruit to emerge from inside.
If we, like the flower, hail God and feel the fragrance, we can have the divine vision. We also can be successful like the flowers. It is worth being successful when there is urge for God from within because he is residing inside us.
It is within the fruit that there are seeds which get strewn after the fruit dries. These seeds then grow into plants which later bear flowers and fruits. If the flower dries before maturity, it is not, a success. To be successful and be of use, you should become a flower in the first place. It is simple- one should stay as soft and simple, not to be cruel and hard like thorns.
Love makes you soft and tender. Compassion is the divine flower. You have to look within you to find out how much of compassion, love and kindness is within you.
Enhance it as much as you can. You have to progress on the path and invite for yourself the divine grace. Rest assured, the beautiful blessings will pour on you in full measure.
