Spiritual awakening is essential for every human being to refresh his mind and optimism.

It can be practiced with the help of spiritual gurus who guide us to focus on our actual goals in life. Also, they direct us to move on the spiritual path to ensure the removal of negative thoughts. Many people are taking the help of relaxing music and spiritual apps to keep them focused in this highly stressful life. I feel that no one can ever replace the role of the gurus as they show the ray of light despite lots of failure and hopelessness.

Purnima or the full moon day is an ancient Indian tradition that is still being followed by Hindus in this Modern Era.

It is a festival that is celebrated to honor the learnings, knowledge, and skills imparted by awakened Gurus to this world. This festival is special and divine with its unique spiritual significance. Many people choose to begin new endeavors on this auspicious day. On this day, devotees fast all day, seek their Divine Master’s Darshana and take only sattvic food. This Year Guru Purnima is on 13th July 2022.

Gurus are people who guide, teach, and help us in achieving our life’s goals and walk the path to success.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines ‘Guru’ as a personal religious teacher and spiritual guide in Hinduism; as a teacher and especially intellectual guide in matters of fundamental concern. Gurus are very knowledgeable, experienced, spiritual, wise, and admirable persons who not only give us vast knowledge they also lead us on the path of righteousness in life. To offer them respects and honor we usually celebrate Guru Purnima.

It is essential to offer our humblest gratitude to our Guru on this day of Guru Purnima as we recognize and appreciate their great sacrifice and their knowledge with which they empower us and awaken us.

This day is celebrated with lots of joy and happiness or like a festival in many of our religions and various regions. Our father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi Ji recognized this day to honour his spiritual guru, Rajchandra who advised and helped him.

Many Noble Gurus have walked the wide expanse of this earth from time to time.

Guru Purnima is the day marked when the lord of the universe (Lord Shiva) became the first guru or Adi Guru of the seven Rishis and gave them yoga Gyan so that the Saptarishis could follow the path of knowledge and humanity. Every year in the Ashad month (June/July) on full moon day (Purnima) Guru Purnima is celebrated.

 

It is also known by the name of Vyasa Purnima in recognition of his immense contribution to the world in the form of Vedas and other Hindu scriptures by name of Vedas and Upanishads.

There are different ways of celebrating this day in different religions. It is not only celebrated in Hinduism, It is also celebrated in Buddhism, Jainism, and others.
On this auspicious day, we worship the lord shiva and our Ishta Gurus. We all thank them and pray for always mentoring us, giving us the right courage for passing through all the difficult hurdles of our lives, and enlightening our lives.

The devotees also do pooja’s of their Gurus for taking blessings from them along with it some devotees do fast and perform their religious rituals. We chant the Guru mantra too. Schools and colleges also conduct various programs for celebrating this day.

To celebrate this day, a statue of lord shiva in the Adi yogi form was also built in Tamil Nadu. There are different ways of celebrating this day in different religions. It is not only celebrated in Hinduism, it is also celebrated in Buddhism, Jainism, and others.

Guru Purnima is also celebrated in Mathura and Vrindavan. It is believed that The Bhagavad Gita and impart spiritual education and moral values to the people. Therefore, Lord Krishna is regarded as a guru whose teachings allow an individual to move on the right and ethical path in life.

Guru Purnima is an observation of teacher-student relationships.

Many students celebrate this festival with their teachers to respect the learnings and knowledge provided by them to grow and develop throughout their life. Altogether, each expresses honor and love for moral, spiritual, and academic gurus who enlighten their life to be better human beings
