“Couple your actions with understanding and express yourself through right actions. It will ensure peace of mind and also a cordial atmosphere around you.”
For leading a good life, a particular order is important, a set rule of doing things every day. These golden rules become habits and in a way give the right direction to daily life. Our great country, India also has a book of rules, ‘The Indian Constitution’ that contains rights, rules and directions for all Indian citizens. Apart from various other things, the constitution says that all citizens have the right to freedom of speech and expression. This simple right opens the door to fundamental liberty for every individual.
Moreover, expressing something through speech is God’s gift to humans. Through speech, people convey their thoughts, feelings and sentiments to others. Freedom of expression is therefore a natural right, that every Indian citizen acquires at birth.
Yet, while using this ‘right to express’ everyone should be a little careful. People must ensure that while practicing their rights they are not hurting others’ sentiments. Thus act and speak mindfully.
Understand that you are a rational being with various desires in your heart to do many things. But these desires have to be controlled. For overall harmony and peace in the family and society, you should avoid doing certain things. None should feel disturbed just because someone is using his or her freedom of expression.
Several activities like painting, writing, playing music, singing devotional songs, dancing, etc. are nice means to express your emotions. While doing so you must refrain from hurting others through your creative expressions. Anything which is derogatory in nature must be avoided.
The bottom line is you must express yourself responsibly. Creating a society where all people can express themselves responsibly starts at the individual level. And if this becomes a norm, the emerging society would be a more beautiful and harmonious place.
In general terms, the principle of right action is the notion that you should always be doing the right thing even if it’s a little discomforting but beneficial for others and for you too. And therefore, the path of right action requires a total commitment and the ability to sacrifice.
Understand this with some examples.
In fact, there could be many examples wherein you can make a better choice in order to take the right action through wise expressions.
Hence, simply following this one rule — expressing yourself through the right actions — will yield you great benefits within your life because you are inculcating the power of discipline in you. Try to follow it always like a constitutional duty. It will make you at peace with yourself and also build a harmonious atmosphere around you.
