Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself.
– John Dewey
India is the home of the largest section of adults who are uneducated. This section has never seen the light of knowledge. But must we do the same to the young children in our motherland? Just because they are poor and lack the resources to attend a school or buybooks?
The scenario in the urbane area is better, but the situation in the rural parts of this country starkly varies. Girls are still married off in their teens. Parents take away little boys from school because either they cannot support their young ones or they need their children to be a helping hand. As a result, many of our country’s young minds are still in the dark. They never get to taste the sweetness of education, nor do their ears hear the melodies of knowledge.
As citizens of India, the responsibility of education for poor children falls on us. Yes, it is we who can shape and change the future of tomorrow. We must take is as our Dharma & do whatever we can to make way for knowledge to reach these students whom poverty did not assign any teacher!
Vishwa Jagriti Mission was founded in the year 1991 to serve the humanity at large. Shri Sudhānshu Ji Mahārāj is the Visionary man behind this non-profit organization. In less than three decades, this charitable society has 80 Mandals and Sewa Samitis across the country and Globe for the benefit of underprivileged children including several other social works.
It propagates the motto of selfless service to humanity. Spirituality and broader horizon of thinking are the two things that this organization tries to instil within the students. It is for this purpose that subjects like meditation, yoga, and devotional prayers are taught in the Gurukuls of VJM and the schools run by them.
Maharajshri has this delibrately named this initiative as ‘Devdoot Bal kalyan’, with the pure thought that those children who do not have families are the children of God.They must be taken care and treated with all the facilities by us. The very name has the word ‘Bal kalyan.’ If we translate it, we get two words, ‘Bal’ and ‘Kalyan,’ which means welfare for children. This organization too propels young minds towards the path of education and enlightenment. It deals with many issues like education, women and child development, livelihood enhancement, health, hygiene, sanitation, etc. Our country has numerous young minds who are thirsty for even a drop of knowledge. Let
us do whatever is there in our power. We, as individuals, might not be able to make large scale difference, but every drop counts. Those of us who are privileged, let us take one child each and educate them. We do not need to provide them with the most expensive schools, but we can at least sponsor the nominal amount which govt. school requires after class 8.
Many of us who do not have money to spare, we too can make a difference in educating poor children. We can take out a few hours a week and give free tuition’s to these underprivileged kids. Many of them drop-out because they find some of the subjects hard to understand. You can bring about a change in lessening the drop-out rate. Let us work together in educating little souls and build the future of this country together.
