Buddha Purnima is the day Gautam Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, and entered Nirvana. On this pious day, the moon glows brighter and bigger than usual. Watch the moon on the night of Buddha Purnima, pray with the purest of feelings, and adopt what Gautam Buddha stood for – harmony, non-violence, and peace.
You too shall be your own light and be like Buddha!
At a young age, Siddharth understood that life is all about grief. He yearned to attain bliss but did not know how to attain that. He renounced the royal lifestyle and after years of following the mendicant order, ascetism and meditation He realized the truth of life, death, and rebirth. He attained enlightenment and travelled across the breadth of North India imparting His divine knowledge and philosophy to His followers. His teachings explained the causes of human misery in the form of ‘The Four Noble Truths’.
Think deeply and you will understand that human life is full of struggle, as Gautam Buddha realized at a very young age. It’s indeed difficult to find contentment in anything we do. Mankind is subject to desires and even when human beings are able to satisfy these desires, the satisfaction is only temporary because pleasure does not last for long; or if it does, it becomes tedious.
Moreover, Buddha has also shown a path to end human suffering, called the Eightfold Path- Right Understanding, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness and Right Concentration. Buddha has shown the path so that mankind can live ethically with intelligence, and practice meditation with true effort, and concentration.
All these teachings of Buddha are meant for human beings who fail to find the right path in life and spend their whole life in futile efforts. They suffer all the time, despite having good health, and wealth. There are many examples wherein you see a person possessing everything that is essential for a happy life yet facing a lack of happiness. Such people should adopt the Eightfold Path in their life.
Buddha showed mankind the right path to end suffering and achieve perpetual happiness. You should try to follow that path and discover how small and kind acts can make you happy. You must spread this happiness in your surroundings as well. If you can do that successfully you will have the right knowledge and you will lead a contented life. And for that, follow Buddha’s teachings with all your heart. Practice your faith with determination and stay away from gossiping and lying.
Also, adhere to the idea of non-violence; avoid negative thoughts and emotions, like fear, anger and jealousy. Take very good care of your physical and mental health through the right conduct and meditation.
Moreover, the meditative seekers who practice the path described by Gautam Buddha can be released from the Karmic Bondages. Always remember that your body is not the source of suffering. The real problem lies in the mind. So, train yourself for being strong physically and mentally. For this, try to adopt and practice His philosophical teachings with a pure heart and mind. The teachings of Lord Buddha will lead you on the path of inner awakening and enlightenment.
