One requires to awaken oneself to one’s true form. Who are we and from where we have come? Where shall we go from here? This has to be understood. We should realize that this conscious soul, riding on the chariot of the body, has ventured out into the world on a hundred years journey. It will undergo various experiences on this path but its aim should be to reach Him, to whom it belongs, and due to whom it has its existence.
A man will be at peace when he realizes that he will have to leave this place and go to his ‘real home’. The collection of the world by things leads to greed and affection. The more you increase them the more you will be the labyrinth and, likewise, there will be more conflicts, quarrels and disputes. A man should realize that he has to place God in his heart and that be does not have to demonstrate his ego, then he should proceed further through Bhakti, yoga or karma yoga or through devotional songs. A man should try to endear himself to God. God has shown the characteristics of those who are dear to him: Adveshta sarvabhutanam maitrah karuna evacha.
Bhakti or devotion to God is to serve His creations earth, to love and respect all. Bhakti is not a demonstration, it is the inherent human quality to see God in every being. To serve man is to serve God is the ultimate destination of Bhakti.
One who does not have the feeling of enmity, one who is friendly to all, one who has kind sentiments for suffering persons, one who has ingrained these virtues in him, his name will be counted among the dear ones of God. One who has realized that he would not live with animosity for anybody, does not have a sense of conflict with anyone, as a person who has imbibed the message of Geeta. Going to religious places means that a person is filled with love, is freed from hatred, anger, condemnation or criticism of others. He rises above all these things. However, if a religious place becomes a seat of spying and condemnation, where people pour forth anger and jealousy, then it is not desirable. Such a place does not bring about any good change and people return from there as bad and sad as they were when they went there. This means that we have not allowed a temple or holy place to remain a temple or a holy place, we have spread our dirt and filth, our poison also at holy places and temples. We might have uttered the name of the Lord from our lips many times but not from our hearts. We might be a devotee for show or appearance, but we do not have any resemblance of real devotion then it is useless. For Compassion and love for mankind is the foundation of Bhakti or devotion.
