Explore your happiness within & not externally

You should not lose your happiness and your peace under any circumstance. This is called Tapa. You may feel restlessness inside because of something. This is a power given to you by nature. It is given to you to bring about a change. If you are not restless you cannot bring about a change. Changes take place when you experience edginess inside you why? Why are you edgy today? What wrong have we done to you that you are cross? It is a restlessness inside you, it is there to bring about a change. But observe one thing: when we begin to increase restlessness then we do not tolerate anybody.

When somebody has his way, when a mother-in-law has her way in the family, she becomes critical of the smallest things of her daughter-in-law. Why did my daughter-in-law look at me in this peculiar way? Why did she pass from this side? Why did she place her thumb in a strange way? The daughter-in-law is just going; she has pain in her thumb. No, she has pointed it at me. And hundreds of complaints of this sort begin. But note that when you place yourself in Tapathen these trivialities become irrelevant. You may have convenience or inconvenience honour or disrespect. You are not lost among them. They are not affecting you. Reaching this age, the old age means that you have awakened your powers with Tapa, you have made everything agreeable to you.

Two brothers were walking along the path happily. Goddess Parvati happened to come from the opposite side. These brothers did not pay any attention to her and did not salute her. When neither of the brothers respected her, the Goddess was furious. She considered them intemperate and uncivilized though from their outfit and other manners they appeared to belong to good families. Had they been ordinary persons, it would have been a different case. But they seemed to be very decent. They were AshwiniKumars. ParvatiMaa thought, If they do not know how to offer Pranām, how to salute, then they certainly deserve punishment.

If a man is educated, considers himself a man of discretion, belongs to a good family then he should show respect and pay his compliments to an elderly person, a respectable man who happens to cross his way. If he doesn’t then either he is egoistic or does not recognize others in relation to himself. So Goddess Parvaticursed them to become camels. They were instantly converted into camels. A few months later, again MaaParvatihappened to be on the same path. She had cursed them for a short while so that they realized their mistake. She asked them, “Sons, are you happy?” They replied, “Maa,we are happy.” She asked again, “Tell me what keeps you happy?” They replied, “Now we do not have to bathe or wash. So we are perfectly happy. We get food from here and there. Besides, we do not have to follow any rules for sleep or rising nor for any prayer or worship. You have changed us to this state. So, we are very happy.”

Maa Parvati burst into a hearty laughter. She said; “Well, nothing harms you. OK, go home and make yourself comfortable. I am reconverting you to what you were earlier.” When they became AshwiniKumars again they said, “Maa, we were roaming lost in our own joy. So we did not notice that you were passing from this side. We were not in our senses, so we got punished.” But I say that God should make man realize his mistakes. But if a man gets into the habit of being immersed in joy all the time, lost in happiness all the time, then a curse too becomes a boon to him. It does not harm him.

So, all of this is called Tapathat you should be happy irrespective of the situation you are placed in. Don’t be in attraction, be in traction, i.e., in Tapa. You have got an opportunity to learn simple things which make life comfortable. Don’t crave for almonds or walnuts. They do not count. What counts is your attitude towards life, your lifestyle, your mindset and how you protect your happiness. Value calm, Be happy, respect others and stay connected with The Universal Power.
