Today the world has been taken over by the unseen enemy, Coronavirus or COVID19. No nation has been spared by its impact. There is death, pain, fear and misery all around. Scientists across the world are working tirelessly in search of a Covid-19 vaccine and treatment. Until they find one, social distancing and self-quarantine have become anew norm in the world. Let us follow these ten points during these testing days of quarantine and emerge as winners and more virtuous than before.
First of all adopt a healthy lifestyle. Strengthen your immune system by eating a nutritious diet with adequate proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Many people think that taking supplements will be very helpful but a nutritionally balanced diet is more effective. Secondly, increase your intake of foods rich in vitamin C like amla (gooseberry), lemons, tomatoes, and oranges. Avoid cold beverages as much as possible. Use green tea and other foods with anti-oxidant properties.
Thirdly, handle produce like fresh vegetables and fruits carefully. Soak the produce in water with some baking soda for one hour. Then dry and store in the refrigerator. Cook the veggies well and if you do eat raw veggies then make sure they are washed multiple times and handled safely. Fourth and most important point is that you must have regular bowel movement and avoid constipation. For this include adequate fibre in the diet. Fifth and key point is to minimize acidity. So limit use of sugar and fatty foods. Sixth point is to get good quality sleep. Sleep on time for at least 6 to 8 hours. Seventh is to include physical exercise in your daily routine but within the safe boundaries of your home. The lockdowns are taking a toll on everyone’s emotional health. People are getting irritated and frustrated which is leading to a phenomenal increase in domestic violence all over the world. Thus the eighth and key point is to overcome our anger and respect each other in the family. Men and women are equally responsible for keeping the home a safe and peaceful haven in these days of global crisis. The woman in the home is working overtime and taking care of all family members. The men must set aside their ego and safeguard your precious relationships. Work with the spirit of oneness. Second last and very essential point is to take extra care of the seniors at home.
Finally, remember that if he has given pain, he will also give medicine. Do your prayers as prayers are very powerful. A protective shield works with everyone in life, a shield of religion, a shield of virtue. Your faith and virtue are also responsible for your salvation. So if there is corona then righteous people possess karuna (compassion). Reach out to those in need in any way you can.
