We should maintain our places of worship in such a way that by going there our mind gets influenced by them. While the temple of our mind should be clean, the temple built with bricks, and mortar and stone should also be kept clean and tidy. In the temple of our mind there should not reside jealousy, hatred, anger, lust and greed because the mind is the holy abode of God.
It does not have any place for any negative elements. It is a sin to keep the divine abode untidy. It should always be kept filled with good qualities, love, compassion, affection, non-violence and sweetness. It is our obligation towards God.
Whenever there is an occasion to visit the temple, it should be with a happy and pleasant mind, with love in the heart and the emotions overflowing with respect and devotion. If you go there with a restless mind full of worries, tensions and conflicts, then your prayers in the temple will not be as effective or meaningful. If there is no pure feeling, the devotion does not produce any positive fruits.
Next is what should be taken to the temple to offer to God and which of them are relevant to offer. Flowers are mostly offered to God in the temple because these are naturally beautiful, full of fragrance and colors. These are acceptable to God as they represent beauty, fragrance and tenderness. In the same way desire will get to a high level still there is no satisfaction. That is why it is said that so long as the desire remains embedded in the mind of the person there cannot be the ray of knowledge. Life comes to an end by hovering around in the darkness of ignorance.
One who is walking on foot desires a tonga and the one who is riding in the tonga aspires to get a car and the one who has the car his ambition is to get a bigger luxury car. It is a different matter whose ambitions are fulfilled but everyone is running behind each other like in the rat-race by blindfolding their eyes. They do not understand as to the consequence of such a rat-race. They don’t even have the intelligence to realize the consequences because each
and everyone possesses a different fate line. One gets only whatever is destined for each one, nothing more and nothing less.
One gets whatever is destined for oneself. This is similar to a thirsty deer chasing the mirage of water on a hot summer afternoon thinking there is the presence of water. As a result, the deer is unable to quench thirst and then dies. Remember that if human being is considered as powerful it is because of a high level of determination or resolution which is hidden within him.
The determination keeps on encouraging him to move on. With firm determination one can undoubtedly achieve his goal in any kind of situation. Some situations are favorable and some are unfavorable but the person who performs actions with full resolve surely succeeds in meeting his objectives. Firm resolve makes one great and pure. This inner purity of the mind brings one closer to God and ultimately helps him live a quality life that revolves around goodness.
